PW02-036 - Thermosensitive CA2+ assay innate immune cells
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Temperature has immunomodulatory effects on innate immune cells: incubating monocytes at low temperatures for example increases pro-inflammatory responses after LPS-stimulation. The mechanisms mediating this effect are still unclear. The activity of several ion channels is sensitive to changes in temperature, leading to cytosolic calcium influx. Calcium is universally involved in cellular processes, its effects depending on the cellular context. Although not much is known about the role of calcium in immune cells, it has been shown that calcium is necessary for inflammasome assembly. Conventional methods of measuring calcium are not ideal to study the relation between temperature and intracellular calcium concentrations ([Ca]i).

PW02-035 - A role for thermo-TRP channels in innate immunity?
Introduction Exposure to cold can induce an exaggerated (local and systemic) inflammatory response in a number of rare disorders, including cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome (CAPS), and idiopathic cold urticaria (CU). Although it is widely recognized that temperature sensing in neurons is mediated by several transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, it is not known how immune cells sens...
متن کاملPW02-042 - Induction of MDSC in Muckle-Wells syndrome
Introduction Muckle-Wells syndrome (MWS) is caused by mutations in the NLRP3-gene encoding cryopyrin, leading to overproduction of IL-1b and other NLRP3 inflammasome products. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) represent a novel innate immune cell subset, are generated in tumor, infective, and proinflammatory microenvironments and are capable of suppressing T cell responses. Consequently,...
متن کاملKiller Cell Immunoglobulin-Like Receptors Influence the Innate and Adaptive Immune Responses
Natural killer (NK) cells are a subset of lymphocytes which play a crucial role in early innate immune response against infection and tumor transformation. Furthermore, they secrete interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) prompting adaptive immu-nity. NK cells distinguish the unhealthy cells from the healthy ones through an array of cell-surface receptors. Human NK cells use inhibi...
متن کاملInnate Immunity Plays a Key Role in Leishmania Infection: Implications for Vaccine Design
Neutrophils are part of the first line of immune response and are essential for resistance against a variety of pathogens. They professionally mediate direct killing of pathogens, recruit other phagocytes by specific chemokines, produce cytokines and interact with different immune cells to shape the adaptive response. Leishmania as an obligatory intracellular parasite has evolved to benefit thi...
متن کاملP38: The Immunoregulatory Effect of Cyclic Dinucleotides on Human Immune Cells
In multiple sclerosis (MS) beneficial effects have been assigned to the interferon (IFN)-I subclass IFN-ß, making its administration a first-line disease-modifying treatment in MS. IFN-I responses can be induced by cyclic-dinucleotide (CDN) triggered activation of Stimulator-of-interferon-genes (STING) and have essential immunomodulatory effects. A beneficial effect of STING activation on...
